The VA hospice benefit works the same as the Medicare hospice benefit. Hospice care is provided on a per day basis. Hospice coverage includes:
- Interdisciplinary Team (consisting of a Physician, Registered Nurse, Social Worker, Certified Nurse Assistant, Chaplain, Bereavement Counselor and Volunteer)
- Pharmaceuticals relate to terminal diagnosis
- Medical supplies
- Durable medical equipment (wheelchair, walker, electric bed, oxygen, etc.)
