When cure is no longer possible, Hospice El Paso focuses on providing the best quality of life possible. Physicians are encouraged to remain involved in their patients care and will be informed of their progress. When making a referral, be sure to request Hospice El Paso by name.

When to refer:

When you have a patient with a terminal (life limiting) illness, a prognosis of six months or less, and the patient is no longer receiving curative treatment.

Palliative Care Options:

Palliative care options refers to the control of symptoms such as:

• Pain
• Nausea
• Vomiting
• Stress
• Anxiety
• Sleep disturbance

Psychological support is provided for patient and family to include education and counseling. After the patient has passed away, awareness of spiritual needs and bereavement follow-up for his or her loved ones.
